Having a great hairstylist who truly cares about their clients hair and their well being is a blessing! Below is a story that I’ve been following on CBS News. It’s about a missing woman named Marsha Brantley from Cleveland, Tenn. Being a regular at the salon has more than just looking good benefits, it could save your life!
When Marsha Brantley, 50, of Cleveland, Tenn., suddenly vanished in 2009, her husband Donnie eventually became a suspect in her murder. But was Marsha even dead?
The case was unusual from the start because for months after Marsha disappeared, nobody reported her missing – not her friends, her family or even her husband. No one took much notice until her hairdresser, Kelly DeLude, worried about a missed appointment and started asking questions.
“I felt compelled to find out what happened to her,” DeLude tells “48 Hours correspondent Peter Van Sant. “I wasn’t trying to be a detective. I was trying to be a concerned friend.”
DeLude eventually called police, and investigators later picked up the case.
The investigation was full of seeming contradictions from the start. Donnie Brantley claimed he hadn’t reported Marsha missing because she had left him. Then, police say he lied repeatedly about where she had gone and what she’d taken with her. Still, there was almost no physical evidence of a crime – no blood, no fingerprints, no crime scene at all. And with no body to prove there even was a murder, the investigators’ biggest hurdle in solving the disappearance of Marsha Brantley may have been Marsha herself.
When Donnie Brantley was deposed in a 2013 civil suit, he didn’t seem to want to talk much about his feelings for Marsha. In answering questions on video, he pleaded the Fifth Amendment or said he couldn’t recall more than 100 times.
Brantley was arrested in 2013, but prosecutors dropped the charges after deciding they didn’t have enough to get a conviction. Two years after his 2014 election, District Attorney General Stephen Crump charged Brantley again with essentially the same evidence.
Lee Davis, Brantley’s attorney, says his client is 100 percent innocent.
“What proof is there that she’s in fact dead – as opposed to gone missing or living someplace else?” says Davis.
It’s a case “48 Hours” has been working on for five years, and it raises questions about the challenges prosecutors often face when someone vanishes without a trace. It also includes a stunning ending that nobody – including prosecutors – saw coming.

A Louisiana woman who drowned in a neighborhood pond on Wednesday has been identified as the sister of CNN anchor Don Lemon, according to officials.
L’Tanya “Leisa” Lemon Grimes, 58, was found Wednesday in a neighborhood pond in Livingston Parish. Officials said that it appears she may have tripped and fallen into the water as she was fishing and no foul play is suspected, reported WBRZ News 2, a local ABC affiliate.
“The Lemon’s/Grimes family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers at this time. Our family has suffered the tragic loss of L’Tanya Lemon Grimes and we are leaning on each other for strength at this time. We appreciate privacy as we grieve the loss of our loved one,” the Lemon family said in a statement.
There’s a warning about the dangers of using counterfeit makeup and other knockoff products like toothpaste and cologne. U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized a record number of counterfeit goods last year, worth nearly $1.4 billion. One of their top priorities is spotting fake toiletries that can be hazardous to your health.
Customs agents seized more than 2,000 shipments of counterfeit beauty products last year alone. They said fake personal care items are now even more common than knockoff handbags.
CBS News correspondent Jamie Yuccas and her team visited a warehouse near the Long Beach Seaport where officers take a closer look at suspicious packages. Most of the boxes waiting for further inspection are from China and Hong Kong. The customs officers are the first line of defense for catching illegal shipments. While the products may be fake, they can have very real health consequences for consumers.
Beauty blogger Tanya Arguelles found out first hand when she purchased a popular eyeshadow from a downtown Los Angeles street market last year. U.S. customs officers say most of the discounted goods sold there likely snuck in under the radar at sea ports like Long Beach.
“I just wanted to know, can this possibly be as good as the $50 that I just spent?” Arguelles said.
She tested both eye shadows and when she woke up the next morning, her eye was burning, uncomfortable and itchy.
“Within the first 45 minutes, I realized that it was an eye infection. I couldn’t get my contacts on,” Arguelles said. “I looked back at the footage and it was on the fake side. Hundred percent.”
Arguelles isn’t alone. Other people who have used counterfeit makeup have reported allergic reactions, skin rashes, swollen lips and chemical burns.
We wanted to find out how easy it is to find the products, so we went shopping undercover at the same downtown alley. Most of the fake makeup sold here is half the price of the original. Some vendors admitted the products were knockoffs but assured us they were just as good.
“It works the same thing as the original,” one vendor said.
Japanese Firms Team Up To Fight Baldness With Stem Cell Cure
Giant strides to prevent and cure baldness are being made in medical labs around the world. The latest announcement comes from Japan’s largest research organization RIKEN, which has teamed up with two Japanese companies, Kyocera and Organ Technologies, to develop a cure based on regenerative medicine. The companies are targeting 2020 for commercialization.
They are not the only ones going down the regeneration route. Earlier this year, scientists at Sanford-Burham Medical Research Institute in California, for instance, made a similar announcement citing similar methods. Meanwhile, Japan cosmetic maker Shiseidohas been working with RepliCel Life and Sciences in Canada to develop their own regenerative process and aims to introduce a treatment as early as 2018 for a fee of 100,00 yen ($1,000).
In Japan some 18 million people suffer from hair loss, while in the United States, it is more than three times that number—men outnumbering females by more than two to one. So depending on the cost and effectiveness of the new treatment, there should be no lack of patients.
The researchers at RIKEN, led by Takashi Tsuji, have already demonstrated they can regenerate body parts including teeth, certain glands and hair follicles in mice in a process known as the primordium method. The magic ingredient employed is stem cells: the remarkable cells that have the ability to change themselves into the different cells composing our various bodily organs.

I’ve heard several celebrities say that they aren’t roll models but I beg to differ. Once you become a celebrity you are automatically labeled as a role model whether you want to be are not. Especially today since we live in the era of social media and celebrities are freely letting fans into their daily lives. We live in an era where women are sharing sex videos online at the touch of their cell phones, where strippers make their jobs look like a career, and showing your nakedness gets you a million likes. This story of the girl having sex with multiple boys just makes my disapproval of celebrities like Amber Rose and Kim Kardashian even stronger.
Amber Rose slut shaming campaign is the stupidest s*** I’ve ever heard of and it leads to teenage girls doing ignorant things just like this girl has done. What’s really sad is she isn’t the first and she definitely isn’t going to be the last.
When I was in the salon I had a lot of school administrators as clients and the stories that they shared with me of how girls as young as 6th graders were caught in sexual acts with boys at school and a lot of times they were caught having sex with multiple boys. Amber Rose is telling young girls that it is okay to have sex with as many people that they want to and they shouldn’t be ashamed of being called a slut.
She’s also telling the future women of tomorrow that they can dress half naked if they want to, and this is true but the disrespect that comes with that can lead to bullying and name calling which leads to emotional problems in teenage girls. What ever happened to teaching young women to leave something for the imagination?
Now VH1 is giving her a platform to spread the word about her slut shaming campaign…..smh. It’s not okay for a man or a woman to sleep around with multiple people especially with sexual transmitted diseases on the rise like they are. Amber Rose calls herself a certified slut….wth?
Also no matter how we say men can sleep around but no one says anything, well the thing is they are men! It has been researched that men think about sex more than women and that is why they have sex with multiple women. Also women have always been morally smarter than men. Read this article below….
Birds do it, bees do it, and men do it any old time. But women will only do it if the candles are scented just right — and their partner has done the dishes first. A stereotype, sure, but is it true? Do men really have stronger sex drives than women?
Well, yes, they do. Study after study shows that men’s sex drives are not only stronger than women’s, but much more straightforward. The sources of women’s libidos, by contrast, are much harder to pin down.
It’s common wisdom that women place more value on emotional connection as a spark of sexual desire. But women also appear to be heavily influenced by social and cultural factors as well.
“Sexual desire in women is extremely sensitive to environment and context,” says Edward O. Laumann, PhD. He is a professor of sociology at the University of Chicago and lead author of a major survey of sexual practices, The Social Organization of Sexuality: Sexual Practices in the United States.
Here are seven patterns of men’s and women’s sex drives that researchers have found. Bear in mind that people may vary from these norms.
Men think more about sex.
The majority of adult men under 60 think about sex at least once a day, reports Laumann. Only about one-quarter of women say they think about it that frequently. As men and women age, each fantasize less, but men still fantasize about twice as often.
In a survey of studies comparing male and female sex drives, Roy Baumeister, a social psychologist at Florida State University, found that men reported more spontaneous sexual arousal and had more frequent and varied fantasies.
2. Men seek sex more avidly.
“Men want sex more often than women at the start of a relationship, in the middle of it, and after many years of it,” Baumeister concludes after reviewing several surveys of men and women. This isn’t just true of heterosexuals, he says; gay men also have sex more often than lesbians at all stages of the relationship. Men also say they want more sex partners in their lifetime, and are more interested in casual sex.
Men are more likely to seek sex even when it’s frowned upon or even outlawed:
About two-thirds say they masturbate, even though about half also say they feel guilty about it, Laumann says. By contrast, about 40% of women say they masturbate, and the frequency of masturbation is smaller among women.
Prostitution is still mostly a phenomenon of men seeking sex with women, rather than the other way around.
Nuns do a better job of fulfilling their vows of chastity than priests. Baumeister cites a survey of several hundred clergy in which 62% of priests admitted to sexual activity, compared to 49% of nuns. The men reported more partners on average than the women. No matter how much they preach about having the right to dress like a slut there will always be sick perverted ass men who are rapist in the world and women walking around half naked will always push that crazy button to make them want to rape. No one has the right to rape but that still isn’t going to stop rapist from raping women. Read this article “Rapist explain themselves and we should listen” (http://jezebel.com/5929544/rapists-explain-themselves-on-reddit-and-we-should-listen)
Kim Kardashian is another woman who is influencing younger girls and young women that it’s okay to carry themselves like sluts. She became rich and famous from a sex tape…..umm yeah okay. Every time you look around she’s posting pictures of herself naked and the thing is her social media pages are open so millions of young ladies are watching her every move. She’s giving them the perception that they can make a sex tape or become a sexual woman in the media and they can get rich too. She also gives off the impression that they should do whatever it takes to become rich and famous even if it means losing all self-respect for themselves.
Young people of today have no choice but to have sex on the brain all the time because they have access to porn sites, sex is uploaded to social media and hell it’s on regular television stations! You can’t scroll on Instagram without seeing someone’s ass or should I say fake ass. If celebrities like the slut puppies in this article preach respect yourselves and your bodies maybe things can change but I don’t see that happening anytime soon especially when networks or giving sluts a platform on national television. A young women can graduate college at 17 become a brain surgeon and post her accomplishments on social media and get 3 likes but a young woman who dropped out at 17 became a stripper can post a video of her ass will get 20,000 likes! Likes on social media is what excites our young people not getting a college education and becoming a pillar of their community because that isn’t the cool thing to do anymore. Most people now would rather look like they are successful on social media rather than actually working hard to actually become successful. We are losing our young people and we are living in a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah.
