Booking On a Budget
The key to booking with a budget for travel is the timing you give yourself. When you are more than 4 months in advance you give yourself more options, flexibility, better rates, and time to budget accordingly. Fall actually means it’s time to think about Spring, and that should put you in Spring Break mode.
Traveling Domestically
If you are looking to do spring break with the kids get that school calendar for their dates; they have already been set for the year. Depending on where you are located, road trips are most convenient when traveling with the family. Here are some great locations to think about for SB in the U.S.
Atlanta
Of course! Why wouldn’t it be first! Aquariums, Six Flags, Centennial Park, etc. Plenty to do and to keep your little ones busy.
Orlando/Tampa
Typical second location for a road trip. Theme parks galore! There are plenty of resorts to have weeklong stays and enjoyable amenities, not to mention International Blvd with all the great places to eat!
Destin
You want to relax along the beach? Cool set up if you are looking for a rental property or condo. Lots of shopping and restaurants along with smaller activities for kids (miniature golf, water parks).
Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN
Cabin life is nice; still cool enough to enjoy the outdoors. Great spot if you are looking to travel with extended family and make it a party! Dolly World is a great attraction as well as zip lining.
New Orleans
Couldn’t leave this goody out. Plenty of tours to sign up for, lots of great cuisine, zoo, aquarium, children’s museum etc. Travel in for a day and catch a cruise from the Riverwalk Mall. NOLA has many options to make it a good southern time!
International
These trips will take a bigger budget and more planning, but if this will be the big vacation for the year go all out! With kids there are some kid themed resorts as well as family friendly resorts in Mexico and Punta Cana. Make sure everyone has a valid passport for territories outside of the U.S. Depositing on your trip by Halloween can give you more time to prepare financially and to be at ease for locking in something to do with te family.
Spring Break isn’t the only occasion you should plan ahead, but it is a start. Failing to plan is a plan to fail.
Book that trip!
