Ed Genson, the defense lawyer who represented R.Kelly at his 2008 child pornography trial, has come under fire for saying the singer was “guilty as hell” of the charges in the wake of his latest indictment.

Genson also claimed Kelly used to gets shots from a doctor to reduce his libido in order to control his urges.

The singer, real name Robert Sylvester Kelly, was acquitted of the child pornography charges in 2008, in a case centered around an alleged video of Kelly having sex with a 13-year-old girl. He now faces 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four women, three whom were minors at the time.

Steve Greenberg, Kelly’s current defense attorney, said that Genson has recently been in and out of hospital because of his condition, while criticizing him for the remarks.

“When I asked him about the comments he told me that he has no recollection of the conversation and he would never have said that because it would be completely improper, and wrong,” Greenberg told USA Today.

Monu Bedi, a law professor at DePaul University, added that Genson had violated his ethical responsibilities by commenting on Kelly’s previous trial.

“Lawyers cannot reveal information learned during representation, especially a statement regarding a person’s guilt,” she added.

“It was extraordinarily inappropriate—clearly Genson violated his professional duties to his client, and the fact that Kelly is no longer his client is completely immaterial and irrelevant,” added Chicago criminal defense attorney Andrew Stoltmann. “It’s a huge breach, an electrifying turn of events.”

Kelly has denied the allegations against him and gave emotional interview to CBS in which he claimed he is now “fighting for my f*****g life.”

“Quit playing. I didn’t do this stuff! This is not me,” he added.

When asked about the explosive interview, Grenson said: “I’m trying to figure out why he did it. I don’t know whether his lawyer is an idiot. He might be.”

In response, Greenberg told the Chicago Sun-Times: “R. Kelly is a grown man who can respond to these allegations as he sees fit.

“He didn’t talk about the charges, he didn’t talk about cases, he generalized allegations that he is some kind of monster running a cult.”
